Gangster Rap is a genre of music usually dealing with the Hood. Although it is come under much controversy it has been popular since its start in the Mid-eighties.
Most people associate the first gangster rap artist is Ice-T with his album 6 in the Mornin. One of the first major gangster rap group N.W.A. (Niggaz Wit Attitudes) immediately emerged with their album, Straight Outta Compton. By the mid 90's many famous gangster rap artists emerged such as, Tupac Shakur, Eazy E, Ice Cube, The Notorious B.I.G., Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg, and Dr. Dre. Gangster rap was evolving and becoming much more controversial. Cities Like Los Angelos and New York City had many rap artist coming out.
Today many things in Gangster Rap have changed. A large number of 1990's gangster rap artists have died or gone out of the business leaving newer artists light the way and continue gangster rap.
