Boyz N the Hood is a film from 1991 starring Ice Cube, Cuba Gooding Jr., Morris Chestnut, and Laurence Fishburne. It was declared in 2002 by Congress to be a culturally significant film as it depicts life in South Central Los Angeles in the early 1990s.
In 1984, 10 year old Trey Styles gets into a fight with a boy at school and is forced to move to his father, Furious Styles in the Crensaw neighborhood of Los Angeles. During this time he reunites with his friends "Doughboy", Ricky, and Chris. On Treys first night a man breaks into the house but is shot at by Furious and escapes. Two officers arrive an hour later and treat Furious with contempt. later on a couple of Crips members trick Ricky into giving up his football and steal it. However one member gives it back.
Meanwhile in 1991 Doughboy has just been released from Prison and a welcome home party is thrown. Later on a street race occurs and Trey and his friends have a stand off with a couple of bloods. Ricky needs to pass his SAT to get into college so he and Trey take it together. On the way home they are harassed by the same cops who responded to the attempted burglar of Furious' house. Ricky and Trey are attacked by the Bloods from the standoff and Ricky is killed. Angered by the death of his brother Doughboy and his friends do a Drive-By-Shooting on those responsible for killing his brother. According to the ending Doughboy was killed two weeks later. Trey then goes to college.
